To me the standalone is better than the mod in a lot of aspects. The lack of any kind of updates to improve pvp is the only thing that's holding the standalone back from overtaking the mod. I come from the original DayZ mod for arma 2 years ago and while I think the arma 3 version runs better most people will probably be on the standalone.
