From the civilian dental side, I can tell you that we offered much better discounts to MetLife patients. MetLife negotiated a lower in network fee, while Delta let us charge almost whatever we wanted. If you need a crown or possibly even a filling, the lower negotiated price with MetLife is probably worth it.
